A boy and his dad...

These two are just so cute together...last night I had book club, so Kellen and I got home late and Aa had very little time to hang. As soon as we got home the two boys went to hang out before bedtime. They just smiled and talked to each other on the bed - it's clear this boy knows and loves his dad very much!

And here's one more of the two reading a book together:

Out for a winter walk

Yes, these are your hands!

It's funny the things you get so excited about when you become a parent...everyday it's something new! The last few days K has really been into his hands - he's discovered that they actually belong to him! It's been so fun watching him figure that out and then just go to town on them...he can't keep them out of his mouth. And if they aren't in his mouth they are just moving all around. He's even starting to reach out for things and will hold onto something for just a few seconds if you place it in his hand. He can almost put his whole fist into his mouth! It's pretty great.

Why we need a video camera...

So yesterday we were doing "Tummy Time", which isn't a favorite with the sweet son. He'll tolerate it for a bit, but tires of it very quickly - it isn't easy trying to lift such a big head! He was fussing a bit and next thing I know, he's pushed himself over onto his back. I was so surprised and actually thought that it was a mistake - that he had tilted his head over too far and it took him over. So I promptly put him back on his tummy and he proceeded to show me that he could roll over from his tummy to his back five more times! Yes...our boy has learned to roll over.

Of course, when his dad got home and I wanted to show off his new trick...he wouldn't do it! But later that evening he did it again! This is exactly why we need a video camera! Today we're going out to look at them and we'll be making a purchase shortly! We can't miss anymore of these big milestones and we must capture these big smile and talking sessions - before we know it he's going to be walking, talking and going off to college. yikes!

7 weeks old

The sweet son is now 7 weeks old - we can hardly believe how time is flying and how big he's getting. We were at the doctor this week and he weighed in at a whopping 11 pounds 11.5 ounces and 23.5 inches...and to think we were headed to the lactation consultant later that day because I was concerned that he wasn't nursing long enough! The boy knows how to eat and he does it FAST!
Here's the sweet, growing boy:

This week my mom was in town, so he got lots of time with his Meme and I was able to leave the house a couple of times without the boy (first time leaving him with someone other than his dad - I did feel a bit anxious!). She lives in Vegas and this was her first time up to visit.

In addition to the visit with my mom, we had a busy week - we had lunch with my Nike teammates on Wednesday and we went out to sushi with my mom on Thursday. He was an angel baby and slept right through both lunches! I don't want to say it too loud, but we've got ourselves a good little guy - he's a good eater, sleeper and all around super cute and cuddly. We feel like the luckiest parents around. We celebrated his cousin's 11th birthday - his first birthday party, although we forgot to bring the camera!, got a visit from Great Grandma, went to the doctor and lactation and went to New Seasons Market. We also took the Bjorn out for a spin a couple of times - it's been so nice here in Portland (sunny, but cold) that we needed to get outside for a bit of Vitamin D. He'd been in the car seat so much, that I felt bad putting him back in for a walk and the Bjorn worked just perfectly. I was able to walk (working on getting those last five pounds off!), we were both able to get some fresh air and sun and the boy was able to take a snooze. Poor guy was so bundled because I didn't want him to get cold, that I think he was actually too warm by the end of the walk! And yes, that is us in the bathroom for the self portrait!

And here's one final picture for your viewing pleasure...this was the boy, exhausted after hanging with his dad all Sunday - boy does he love that...and yes, Aa totally dressed him that day!

And we're live...

I've been meaning to get this started for quite awhile now - in fact, I had intended to start this when I first got pregnant...but now our sweet son is 6 weeks old! Classic me...good intentions, but just didn't quite get there! Wow...what a ride this last six weeks has been! We've gone from this:

To this:

Okay, must run now...but my plan is to use this blog to keep everyone updated on us...well, who am I kidding...I'll probably just keep you inudated with pictures of our boy!
