a good day for a marathon...

no, not to run in the marathon...just to go cheer on all the runners! this morning we hit the road early to get a bit of inspiration from all the runners running in the portland marathon. i love watching a marathon - i actually get a little teary thinking of all that they've done to get to the starting line and to get through the 26.2. today, i was definitely thankful to be on the cheering side, but a little part of me was a bit jealous - you feel unstoppable, like you could do pretty much anything after completing your marathon. i'm not sure if i have another in me; right now it feels like i would simply never have the time to properly train for the distance, but i'll never say never.

i wish i would have brought my camera...the boy had lots of fun waving to the runners and he got lots of smiles back!
these pics of us being lazy after watching all those runners will have to do!

ps. someone is 10 months old today! unbelievable...that one year mark is in sight!

we're still here!

sorry for the lack of posting...we've been super busy the last week and i'm still recovering and playing catch up. there is so much to post about and i've been waiting to find the time to write a worthy post...but i'm not sure if i'll ever find it!

here's the quick version:
aaron has been mr. mom for the last week and through this week. they've been having lots of fun together! last week we had two new babies arrive - andi had her baby - 10 pounds 4 ounces (!)- on tuesday and my sister had her baby, maisy on wednesday. i had a work offsite at salishan (the beach) wednesday and thursday...this would have been my first overnight away from kellen, but i couldn't do it and so aaron and kellen came and joined me there for the night! after rushing home from the beach to see maisy for the first time, i then had to prepare myself to return to the beach for hood to coast. yes...on friday i joined my nike team to head up to mt. hood to run hood to coast...so friday was my first night away from the boy. i had too much going on with running almost 18 miles that i didn't really have time to worry...plus there was nothing to worry about since he was in the great hands of his dad! my van finished our runs around 11am saturday and headed to seaside to wait for the rest of our team to make it to the beach and my sweet boys were there waiting for me. am i lucky or what? needless to say saturday night i crashed out from sheer exhaustation and i'm still trying to recover.

i know that wasn't so quick...but there is so much more i could say and i have some really good pictures to accompany this post as well, but i just don't have the time right now - so if anyone is still with us here, i'll get to it soon...at least i'll try! with football season here this weekend (HOLY COW)...our weekends are suddenly getting even busier (if that is possible).

here's a teaser picture...

L I V E S T R O N G Challenge

Today the three of us ran in the LIVESTRONG Challenge 5K - yes, the three of us...Kellen cruised along with me in the BOB (which by the way, is one of my favorite baby gear items)! Our day started early - we actually woke Kellen up at 6:30 (ah...never wake a sleeping baby, right?!) and hit the road at about 6:50 to the Nike campus, which is where the race started and finished. It was a great event. In addition to the run that we did, there was a bike ride with different mile options up to 100 miles! It was a hot and humid day and we were certainly glad the race started at 7:50 because it was already pretty warm. I couldn't imagine riding in the longer mileage rides.

Aaron finished in about 20 minutes and Kellen and I took a bit longer, finishing around 35 mintues. I blame the crowd and the stroller for our slow pace, not the fact that I hadn't run since the Quarter Marathon! ha. But really, it wasn't easy navigating the stroller amongst 3000 people! My friend and Nike co-worker, Jen, ran with us and it was just fun to be out there moving with all the people in support of a great cause - the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

I'm a Hippie Chick!

Well, I survived...in fact, I surprised myself at how well I did! I finished the Hippie Chick on Saturday - no, it wasn't the Half Marathon that I had signed up for, but I did complete the Quarter Marathon (which is 6.55 miles) and I ran the whole time and I felt pretty darn good. I just checked the race results and I'm not so sure this is accurate...but it's saying that I finished second in my age group - mind you, there were only 16 in my bracket! Not too shabby, considering I only made it on on a whopping two runs since Kellen was born (really since September - since my last pregnant run was the Race for the Cure in Sept!). I have done a ton of walking and mostly carrying a nearly 16 pound child on my front - so that must have helped. Instead of a medal, all the finishers received a really cute necklace. I tell you, a necklace beats a big clunky medal any day! It'll be hard to top the Tiffany necklace from the Nike Women's Marathon, though! I highly recommend both of these races - although they are both very popular, with the Nike Women's being nearly impossible to get into these days.

My friends Meghan and Amy did the Half Marathon - way to go, girls!! If not for them, I think I might have been tempted to walk a couple of times! Thank you for keeping me going! Thanks to my sis, who came along and hung out with the boy while I ran!

Next up - the LiveSTRONG Challenge on June 29th. Just a 5k...but a fun event and a great cause! Tomorrow happens to be LiveSTRONG Day - if you are interested in running or riding in this event - save 50% off of the registration in honor of LiveSTRONG Day! Savings ends on the 13th at 11:59pm...so hurry up and save!
